512MB sticks of buffered matched RAM (2 pair) that are excess to my needs. Good afternoon, all! I hope I'm not putting this out in the wrong forum, but I wanted to at least try: I've just upgraded my MacPro 1.1 from 4GB RAM to 16GB.I now have four ea. Machine took an extra few seconds to boot the first time (at least it seemed to) - after that it's all good. I visited and made sure I knew exactly what processor I had then found out what the fastest I could put in would be and did a little research to see what rev/build, etc. If you search upgrade mac pro cpu you'll get a bunch of hits. So I went from a four core to an eight core machine for $100 Without that wrench it would be a major PITA. The old processors pop right out - just like on a PC, then you put the new ones in and put some thermal paste on, plug in the heat sink fans, screw them down, pop the big grey fan in and you're good to go. Use the wrench I showed to take the heat sinks off then clean them with some rubbing alcohol and QTips. To install, you open the case and the big grey fan on the front side pulls right out. ![]() Intel SL9YM Xeon QC X5355 2 66GHz 1333MHz 8MB Proc Chip | eBay I have an older MacPro, but it was still working well - just a little slow here and there.
